I’ve been blessed to have been able to travel back to Texas and visit family and friends as often as I have. Each trip has been for different reasons and filled with different activities. My latest trip to Texas has by far been the most difficult and most meaningful.
My reason for this trip was because I was a part of a wedding. My beautiful friend Claire got married to her best friend, Evin. Claire and I met my six years ago when we were studying at college. She is a person I always looked up to and consider as a sister to me.
She is a planner, so I knew that her bachelorette party weekend and her wedding week were going to be filled with a lot of activities! And it was! I’m still recovering and it’s been two weeks!
As soon as my parents and sister picked me up from the airport in San Antonio, we began our journey to Port Aransas for her bachelorette. The weekend was a blast with beach, drinks, dancing and fun! I’m going to write a post on how to have a simple yet perfect Bachelorette Weekend—that weekend encompassed that.
While there, I began to notice a small culture shock (from my own home state of Texas!) That was the most difficult part for me to understand. How had I changed so much in such a short amount of time? How come this place doesn’t feel like home anymore? I bared with those questions and it only made me realize that a place doesn’t make you feel at home, but the people do <3
When we got back to San Antonio, I still had everything planned to a tee. I visited both of my grandmas, spend the most valuable time with them, we visited my grandpa at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, we laughed, ate a good meal and those are the moments I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.
I made time for some friends I hadn’t seen since I moved away. I spent time with my parents and sister. We went to the movies and enjoyed movies at home. Spent time with my aunts and cousins at the house and laughed a lot!
With being there in Texas for Claire’s wedding, I had things going on throughout the week as well. Thursday we had a bridesmaids’ brunch, Friday we got our nails done and Friday evening was the rehearsal and dinner. Saturday was filled with getting ready for the wedding and the wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful! It was held in the small town of Blanco, Texas, and they did everything local! The church, the hall, the food, the music, everything! It was so beautiful and so much fun!
I’m very happy to have been a part of this very special day for Claire. Thanks for having me join y’all and for bringing me back to Texas for a short amount of time. Can’t wait to see y’all again!
I love my family, friends, husband, God and Texas! God bless Texas.
